Earth's Spheres

Atmosphere

 

The atmosphere is a mixture of invisible gases that surround the Earth. The atmosphere also has 5 layers!

 

The atmosphere's 5 layers and 2 facts about each layer:

• Exosphere

           - Satellites orbit Earth in this layer

           - This is the outer most layer of the atmosphere

• Thermosphere

           - This is the hottest layer of the atmosphere

           - Auroras occur here

• Mesosphere

           - Meteors burn up in this layer because of the friction

           - This is located in between the thermosphere and stratosphere

• Stratosphere

          - Jets fly in this layer

          - The ozone layer that protects us from meteors is located on top of the stratosphere

• Troposphere

           - This is the lowest layer of the atmosphere (closest to the earth)

           - Humans interact with this layer

 

An easy way to remember the exosphere, thermosphere, mesosphere, stratosphere, and troposphere (E.T.M.S.T) is by saying "Every Turtle Makes Smart Turtles." this is just a funny thing to remember the layers of the atmosphere.
